Adamawa man in court after administering abortion drugs that killed his girlfriend

A photographer, Muhammed Zubairu, has been charged in court for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sane Fidelis, after administering abortion drugs to her in Adamawa State.
Zubairu, 21, reportedly impregnated Fidelis two months ago in Sabon Pegi village, Mayo-Belwa local government area.





He was later accused of conspiring with an alleged fugitive to kill Fidelis as he attempted to terminate her pregnancy.
Zubairu was charged with criminal conspiracy to cause death under Sections 60 and 204 of the Adamawa State Penal Code before Alheri Ishaku of Chief Magistrate Court I, Yola.
As a result, the magistrate ordered that Zubairu be remanded to a correctional facility, after he confessed to the alleged culpable homicide.
The case was first reported to the police by the sister of the deceased, Siyona Fidelis, on November 4, 2021, after which the accused was apprehended.
Zubairu had admitted that “I had sex with the deceased three times; when she approached me with the pregnancy; I provided medicine in order to terminate it.”
When asked to enter his plea, the defendant told the court that he committed the alleged crime after the first information report (FIR) was read to him as applied by the prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu.
The matter has been adjourned to December 13, 2021 for further notice.
